Shaikha Al Ketbi’s practice spans photography, drawing, and installation, exploring self-awareness while blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality. Working with isolated landscapes and ritual, she seeks to capture the ephemeral. ‘Imagine it’s foggy’ (2024), commissioned for the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial (2024–2025), is a site-specific installation of eight surreal streetlamps inspired by Al Ketbi’s childhood memories of Al Hili and its leisure and amusement-park aesthetics. Scattered across Hili Archaeological Park, the lamps create playful distortions of reality, representing subconscious thoughts and emotions.
