Iván Argote’s practice reimagines public space by questioning monuments, historical narratives, and systems of power through participation, humour, and poetic intervention. The Other, Me & The Others (2026) transforms the monument into a space for encounter, cooperation, and shared experience. Taking the form of a monumental circular seesaw, the sculpture responds to the combined movements, weight, and presence of its participants. Activated only through collective action, no single person can determine its balance; the work comes alive through cooperation and an awareness of others. Its circular form evokes openness, continuity, and equality, reimagining the monument as a living civic space where relationships are continually shaped through collective presence.
