Vica Pacheco’s practice explores sound through sculptural forms, empathetic technologies, and processes of transformation. OO! (Oven-Organ) (2026) comprises three sounding ovens inspired by the Mexican camotero, a street cart carrying a wood-fired oven whose steam whistle announces its arrival. Transforming this single whistle into a polyphonic organ, the work uses fire, water, and steam to activate multiple voices. The ovens take forms inspired by natural shelters: a chrysalis, snail shell, and shell inhabited by a hermit crab, reflecting on home as something that can protect, transform, grow, be inherited, and inhabited anew. Activated through sonic performances and communal meals, OO! brings together sound, fire, and food as a collective act of listening, eating, gathering, and making home.

Brussels, Belgium and Oaxaca, Mexico
Exploring sound, sculpture, performance, and installation, Vica Pacheco investigates how vibration, breath, heat, and resonance shape relationships between human and more-than-human worlds. Through experimental instrument-making and sculptural forms, she transforms objects into acoustic bodies, creating immersive environments where sound becomes a material for perception, encounter, and exchange. Activated by elemental processes such as airflow, water, friction, and resonance, her installations and performances function as temporary ecosystems that invite embodied forms of listening and collective participation. Her work has been presented at institutions including MACBA, Barcelona (2024); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2024); Villa Medici, Rome; macLyon; WIELS, Brussels; and BOZAR, Brussels (2025). She has also performed at CTM Festival, Berlin (2026); Rewire Festival, The Hague (2023); and Musica Festival, Strasbourg.
